A stroll through Parkfairfax in summerParkfairfax is one of the gems of Northern Virginia. Jennie Dean Park near Shirlington in Arlington County VAJennie Dean Park is part of the Arlington County Parks system. Jennie Dean Park is located near Shirlington at 3630 27th St. S. Arlington, VA 22206. A stream runs through the park. The park has restrooms open year round and two water fountains. In addition to picnic tables, Jennie Dean Park offers a small picnic shelter which may be reserved for events. Charcoal grills support the shelter and picnic tables. For activities and play the park has a school-age playground, two baseball fields, two tennis courts and a basketball court. The baseball fields include one adult field available by permit only with lights, dirt infield, bleachers and a dugout; as well as one youth field (also available by permit only) with lights, dirt infield, bleachers and a dugout. The tennis courts and basketball courts are lighted. There is also a large open green space for sports without a permit.

About Shirlington VA
Shirlington is a one of the urban villages of Arlington County, Virginia, United States, adjacent to the Fairlington area. The word "Shirlington" is a combination of "Shirley" (from the Shirley Highway or Interstate 395) and "Arlington." Shirlington is mostly middle-class residential, but like most of Arlington County has been experiencing an economic renaissance and is now home to many upscale dwellings and retail and service establishments that also serve the nearby Fairlington, Parkfairfax, and Nauck areas.
Shirlington is near Arlandria and the valley of Four Mile Run, a tributary of the Potomac River. It is the site of the trailhead of the Washington & Old Dominion Railroad Trail, a rail trail that travels along the route of a railroad that closed in 1968. Shirlington lies adjacent to I-395 and is immediately accessible from Shirlington Circle (Exit 6 on I-395).
With its established café culture, live theater and pedestrian promenade, Shirlington has declared itself arts and entertainment capital of Arlington. Anchoring the Village at Shirlington is a multi-million dollar theater-library complex, home to Arlington’s nationally-known Signature Theatre, and the state-of-the-art Shirlington Library. Added to the mix are new condominiums, lively restaurants and exciting shops, all with easy access to Washington and close-in proximity to Interstate-395, the Pentagon and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
