I just wrote this email in response to a request from a client who is referring my services to a friend. I wrote:
If you have a friend who is looking for easy metro access, a
3 bedroom home and only wants to spend about $300k to $350k it will be tough. But here are my best
suggestions:

Many homes at Amberleigh are within walking distance of the
Springfield Franconia Metro. Kingstowne and Manchester Lakes might work too.
The
Huntington Metro is also an option at with homes at Bucknell Manor and the Fort
Hunt area. This is a traditional 1950’s neighborhood with lots of trees and
good schools. Huntington Metro has 4500
parking spaces, so it’s a great metro to live close to because you can park and
ride.

I also like parts of Franconia near Van Dorn but there is no
parking at the Van Dorn Metro. Springfield and Burke are quite suburban but
there is parking at the Franconia Springfield Metro.
I doubt you can find anything in Alexandria or Arlington
that comes close to fitting in your budget. It’s possible to find home not far
from the Vienna Metro. If you head
further out towards Centreville and Oakton you can might find a home that suits
you and you can drive to park at the Vienna Metro.

The Clarendon Metro Station is located in Arlington, Virginia between the Rosslyn and Ballston Metro Stations and runs both the Orange and Blue Metro lines. The Clarendon Metro Station totals 212 acres of land and includes a mixed-bag of single and multi-family homes, apartments, condos, office buildings, and commercial and retail businesses. There are multiple established residential neighborhoods located near the Clarendon Metro Station that combine to create an urban village, a notion that was the central concept in the design and development of the Clarendon neighborhood. One of the major focal points near the Clarendon Metro is the Olmstead Building and standing at 213,000 square feet, the Olmstead Building is the largest office space in Clarendon. More recently completed in 2003, the Hartford Office Building is another front runner contending for the largest office space and encompasses almost 207,000 square feet. Vienna Metro Station is a Washington Metro Station in Fairfax County located in Virginia, on the Orange Line. The Vienna Metro is located in Oakton, though its official address is of Fairfax, in the median of Interstate 66 at Nutley Street. The station provides easy access to the nearby town of Vienna, Fairfax City and the main campus of George Mason University. For
the metro rail, each passenger requires a farecard or a SmarTrip card
to enter and exit, though up to two children under age five may travel
free with a paying customer. Fare cards
are available at the fare vending machines and also available online. The farecard
machines accept credit and debit card or passes. The hours of service
on Monday to Thursday are 5 a.m. to midnight, on Friday 5a.m.to 3a.m., on Saturday 7a.m.to 3a.m., and 7a.m. to midnight on Sundays. The
Vienna Metro offers daily or hourly parking but parking at the station sells out almost daily. WMATA also rents out monthly reserved parking. Riders purchase permits to park in
reserved places.

Some folks describe Pentagon City as one of Arlington's freshest and most fashionable neighborhoods. Pentagon City is a place of shops, restaurants and homes just paces from the Pentagon. Pentagon City well known for the the Fashion Centre , a multi-floored shopping mall, but there is a lot more to this little community.
There is plenty of hourly parking for the mall and around Pentagon City, but many visitors arrive via the Pentagon City Metro station---an underground stop on the both Yellow Line and Blue Line. The King St. Metro is located at the foot of Shooter's Hill at the point where King St. leaves Old Town Alexandria. The George Washington Masonic Memorial sits atop Shooter's Hill overlooking the city. From the Memorial, and from the Metro, one
can look down King St. toward the Potomac. This metro station has 30 short-term metered parking spaces and ample bike racks. Car Sharing is available at King St. Metro.
King Street is famous for unique shops,
boutiques, restaurants, nightclubs and lots of activities. The area has some of the shops you would expect in an
upscale mall, but many of shops and restaurants you'll find only here. Old Town Alexandria has more than 4,000 historic buildings,
outstanding examples of early American architecture that now house
small businesses and gracious homes, all waiting to give you a modern
welcome. Old Town is characterized by brick sidewalks that line
historic structures. Elegant modern structures are carefully planned to
fit with the feel of Old Town.
Real Estate in Old Town is generally pricey and prestigious. Parking
can be a bit of a hassle, especially in touristy areas along King St.

The Eclipse at Center Park is a condominium community located alongside Four Mile Run in Arlington County where Crystal City meets Alexandria's Potomac Yard.
The community backs to the Yellow Line and Blue Line where the metro bridges Four Mile Run. There is no metro stop at the Eclipse, though there is talk that a stop is coming within 5 to 10 years near Potomac Yard and/or the Eclipse. Nonetheless, the Eclipse is a paragon of convenience, with regular bus shuttles circling from through Crystal City and the Eclipse.
The Eclipse has a number of great amenities worth checking out including a pool and workout area, but for now we're focusing on a collection of social amenities found on the seventh floor of the east tower. On this floor you'll find a modern and stylish party room. From the party room, one can exit to the roof deck.

The Observation Deck has a pillared structure that frames intriguing views of nearby site. From the Observation Deck, one can easily watch the planes come and go from Reagan National Airport. On most days both the Washington Monument and the US Capitol are plainly visible and much more obvious than they might seem in the picture below.

For all the virtues Northern Virginia enjoys, traffic is not one of them. Crystal City in Arlington is close to all the major employment/transportation centers. Crystal City in Arlington Virginia is adjacent to The Pentagon and right across the river from downtown Washington DC. Crystal City in Arlington County has some of the best schools in the country. Crystal City has 2 Metro subway stops, a regional VRE train station and of course Reagan National Airport. Crystal City in Arlington has been fully developed with a mix of class A office space and residential housing--side by side. Apartments, condos and single family homes are all available in Crystal City.

One such condo is Crystal Square located at 1300 Crystal Drive in Crystal City Arlington. One particular unit even has a pool side ground level patio. This unit has more than 2100 square feet of living space and a jacuzzi master bath.

The Eisenhower Metro stop is located at 2400 Eisenhower Avenue. It is across the street from the Hoffman Town Center and entertainment complex. Eisenhower station is just inside the Capital Beltway (I-495) at the Telegraph Road exit. The Eisenhower Metro is served by the Yellow Line.
Eisenhower is a two platform station. Access to both platforms is provided to two escalators and an elevator. Bike parking is available with 10 bike racks and 6 lockers in the station.
The first train departs at 4:51 am Huntington and the last train departs at 12:37 am Huntington. Service became available to the public on December, 17, 1983. The REX bus provides service nearby at the corner of Swamp Fox Rd. and Eisenhower. Eisenhower is served by DASH buses 2, 6, & 7.
Metrorail fares are posted on the WMATA site. Fares are discounted for children and seniors.
The Eisenhower Metro serves the Carlyle District and is convenient for workers at businesses in and around the Hoffman Center. The Eisenhower Metro is also useful for many residents in the condos of the Carlyle District. For some residents, the Eisenhower Metro is more convenient than the King St. Metro.
The Eisenhower Metro is in the 22314 zip code, which is generally considered Old Town Alexandria, but there is very little that is "old" anywhere near this stop in the Carlyle District. The Carlyle Towers and several other new structures dominate the skyline here.
