This home on Columbia is what I call a "Bucknell Classic". It has
all of the charm, coziness and comfort of a Bucknell home with
important updates that preserve the best of the architect's vision for Bucknell.
Many homes in Bucknell have additions and garages, but this home is exactly as it was meant to be!
This classic is ready for your updates, but you just might choose to

Dormers and a nice lawn
This model has two symmetrical dormers and is preferred by many
because of the balance of the design. The carport is a later addition

When these houses were built the design philosophy was a little
different from today. The kitchen was viewed the way we think of a
laundry room. It is a workspace, that should be functional, and yet
hidden from view as much as possible. This update makes great use of
the small space while keeping with the architect's original idea of a
working kitchen that is detached from the living areas.
Upstairs
On the second floor there are two bedrooms and a full bath with a
shower, but to get there and back again you'll have to go up this
beautiful all wood stairway. The bathroom is not pictured, but it is
couched inside a rear dormer for light and headroom.
Inside the Dormers
In the bedrooms, the dormers add extra room and give the kind of
character and light that kids love. It's the perfect place to put a
desk or a work table. Don't you just love the built-ins!
And the tour finishes with a quick peek at the storage under the
eaves on the second floor. This one is nicely finished with carpeting
and drywall.
