Island Creek was built on a tract of land was 1000 acres of Hunter Tract land granted to John Thomas in 1678. The land grant was adjacent to Long Branch Creek and the whole area itself was referred to as Island Creek in 1694 after its location within Accotink, Dogue and Long Branch Creeks. In the early 18th century Daniel McCarty purchased the land that is situated near the ruins of the ancient Parish Glebe that later on became Pohick Church. Such historic reference was confirmed by the Lee District Office.
Island Creek is an ideal location for those commuting in and out Washington DC and outlying Military bases.
