Why Alexandria: The Roads to Mount Vernon
Across the Potomac River from Washington D.C. lies the city of Alexandria in Northern Virginia. This historic city is the location of Mount Vernon, once owned by the famous George Washington himself. Located along the Potomac riverbanks, Mount Vernon is connected to Old Town via the George Washington Memorial Parkway and Route 1.
You can take the scenic route by going through the parkway, which has a generous sprinkling of parks and wonderful scenery, including bike trails and lovely waterfront homes, which have differing and unique qualities about them.
Route 1, on the other hand, thrives with activity as a hub of industry and commerce in Alexandria. Amidst all this buzz, are multiple condominium complexes from Route 1’s south end to its north end.
In between these two main roads leading from Old Town to Mount Vernon, you can find a wide scope of differing and unique communities, distinctive to Northern Virginia.
With the history, the hubbub and the natural scenery that this area of Alexandria has to offer, it is no wonder that Alexandria, Virginia is said to have something that will fit what everyone is looking for in terms of real estate options.

Central Fairfax County
Flourishing, that’s what best describes Fairfax County. Tagged as the most populous in Virginia and the Washington metropolitan area, Fairfax County is a place where people from different walks of life collide.
Most of its adult residents have attained college degrees. In fact, Fairfax County’s median household income is one of the highest in the nation.
Potential buyers are given the option to have a suburban living in Kingstowne and Burke or take advantage of easy Metro access in Vienna and Huntington.
Why Alexandria: The 395/495 Corridor
Alexandria is a city in North Virginia, located just across the Potomac River from the national capital, Washington D.C. This closeness to D.C. adds an allure to Alexandria, making it a lucrative destination for those seeking real estate options in Alexandria.
In terms of proximity to Washington D.C., one of the particularly notable neighborhoods and areas in Alexandria is the inner beltway along the 395/495 corridor. If there’s anything that this area has to its advantage, it is location. Downtown D.C. and the Pentagon are just a couple of minutes’ drive away from the 395/495 corridor, depending on the time of day (i.e. depending on the level of Northern Virginia traffic you need to contend with).
Right amidst the hubbub of this area in Alexandria is a variety of high rise condos and townhouses specifically centered in the Landmark area and the Mark Center.
Also, it is worth mentioning that the accessibility of the corridor is further enhanced by the fact that the Metro’s blue line with the Van Dorn Street station runs right through it, thereby assuring a convenient means of transportation for its residents.
Being one amongst Alexandria’s many real estate options, the 395/495 corridor offers convenience and accessibility, further asserting the idea that Alexandria, Virginia does have something for everyone in terms of real estate.

Why Alexandria: Old Town and Kingstowne
Across the Potomac River from Washington D.C. lies Alexandria, Virginia. For some, the fact that it is just a river’s cross away from the national capital adds to the appeal that establishing a home in Alexandria offers.
However, a closer look at the areas available in Alexandria will show that this city has more to offer, with a certain ambiance made to fit the tastes of those seeking a suitable residence – whether they’re gearing more towards the classic or the modern.
Alexandria originated from Old Town and this particular location, situated right beside the Potomac River, has the classic ambiance of a riverside town and has quite a charming array of waterfront restaurants, shopping areas, condominiums, houses, and of course, townhomes.
Some of the best deluxe condos and townhouses can be found in Old Town, including Rivergate Townhouse and the Torpedo Factory Condos to name a few.
While Old Town sports the charm and benefits of being the original Alexandria, Kingstowne competes through its modern fixtures, brought about by thorough planning and careful implementation. This modern housing suburban area offers a variety of homes, townhouses and a couple of garden condo compounds, not to mention plenty of community parks and fields.
In conclusion, if you’re looking for classic old school simplicity, Old Town has that charm. However, if you’re looking for the more modern suburbs, Kingstowne is the place for you. Either way, Alexandria offers something to fit everyone’s needs and tastes.
